Pre-filter on Whole House Water Filter.

I recently replaced a whole house water filter and this is what I found.

These cartridges when new are pure white. This one shows how much Iron and Manganese that the system filters from the water supply. Iron being an orange colour and Manganese being black, it makes the cartridge a dark brown. With the introduction of Chlorine in our water supplies, water filters have been a popular solution to remove the taste of Chlorine and filter out the nasties. The picture sells itself.
