Hot Water Cylinder siesmic restraints.
Above is a diagram from NZBC G12.
The diagram shows the requirements of how a Hot Water Cylinder should be restrained, to prevent undue movement of the HWC, during an earthquake. Any plumber dealing with a hot water cylinder after an earthquake knows the damage that can be caused by an unrestrained HWC. In my experiences it was generally the top connection that was leaking from the stress caused by the movement of the cylinder. Occasionally the HWC would have literally moved out of place, causing flooding and damage to the surrounding areas.
If your HWC does not have seismic restraints and you would like them installed, give me a call. Meeting your plumbing needs.
