Hot Water Cylinder relief drain.
Any hot water cylinder that requires a pressure relief valve will need a relief drain.
The relief drain is located near your HWC and runs to a position outside of the building where it can discharge, without causing damage. I often have calls regarding this drain as water will constantly drip. This is ok so long as the water that is dripping is cold and it is a drip not a flow. There are two valves connected to the relief drain, one being a cold water expansion valve (generally near the bottom of the HWC) and the other a temperature and pressure relief valve (generally near the top of the HWC. Keep an eye out for my next blogs and I will explain the use and need of these two valves.
Please if your unsure don’t be afraid to call. Meeting your plumbing needs.
