Leaking Washing Machine Tap

The washing machine tap had been capped off, but unfortunately left dripping.

After removing the cap and installing a new washer, the leak was fixed. This turned into an insurance claim, as the leak had been dripping for some time. The back panel and base panel in the cupboard had swollen, fortunately contained to the one cupboard. Insurance claims for this generally cover the damage caused and not the repair that caused the damage. Most policies do not cover damage that has arisen over a long period of time. Please check your policy wording as I have attended many jobs where the insurance has declined the claim.
