Split Join.

Spilt join

I had to get the council to replies the water meter for this one. The water was not shutting off, as fast as I was digging a hole it was filling up.

Once the water meter had been replaced, I was able to expose the problem. The plastic connection onto brass had split. I replaced the plastic connection with a male thread onto a brass socket, this way it’s less likely to be affected by the different expansion and contraction rates. Metal expands and contracts a lot slower than plastic and is likely what caused the plastic join to fail. I also wrapped the brass with Denzo tape. This tape protects the brass from the effects of corrosion when buried.
