Gone have the days where taps were just a tap washer to replace. Modern taps have a cartridge that regulates the flow and temperature.

As you can imagine the amount of taps that are on the market today are wide and varied. When making the choice to install a new tap, the pressure also has to be considered. It’s no good installing a mains pressure rated tap to a low pressure system, as the tap will probably just dribble water. As a plumber I do recommend NZ branded tap ware. That way you know that parts are readily available and the guarantee is there. Obviously cost is a factor when choosing, however, it’s better to spend a little extra on a brand that will last, rather than having to replace or repair on a more regular basis.
