Tempering Valve
Temperature and Pressure Relief Valve.
From the cold water expansion valve a cold feed is fed to the cold inlet of the tempering valve. A hot feed is fed from the top of the HWC to the hot inlet of the tempering valve. A minimum of 1m of copper pipe is required from the top of the HWC to the valve and the pipe should be insulated. The HWC temperature is set around 70 degrees, obviously too hot for normal use. This is where the tempering valve does what is required. The Hot and Cold water supplies are blended in the valve and provides a maximum temperature of 55 degrees to the rest of the house, preventing the risk of scalding.
