Leaking Brass Tee

This leak had been going for a while.

I must admit I didn’t spot this straight away. There was a considerable amount of water in the Hot Water Cylinder cupboard the gib and timber were saturated. I saw the drip coming from the bottom of the valve train, which I followed to the top of the brass tee. Over time the brass has suffered Dezincification. This is where the zinc content in the brass is gradually removed. Commonly due to the water supply and environment. Don’t worry it doesn’t happen over night. I do recommend checking your Hot Water Cylinder to make sure it’s okay. They tend to go un-noticed until there’s a problem.
