Leaking cold water expansion valve.

You can clearly see the pin hole in the brass body of this cold water expansion valve.

This leak had gone un-noticed for some time. It had been spraying inside the hot water cylinder cupboard. The carpet was wet through going into the hallway and bedroom. The MDF panel next to the hot water cylinder had swollen and water had been dripping into the element housing. Not a nice thing to come home to. The valve had to be replaced.I would recommend checking your hot water cylinder on a periodic basis, looking out for leaks of this kind.
