Plumbing Pipework

On a previous blog I mention about different materials used in plumbing.

This renovation is a classic example of older plumbing pipe work. The hot is run in copper pipe to withstand the heat of the water. Back then the supply temperature would have been around 65 - 70 degrees. Now we have tempering valves to control the water temperature down to 45 - 55 degrees, preventing scalding. It’s not as essential to use copper on the hot and therefore reducing the cost of installations. The cold water is run in uPvc pipe, unfortunately this pipe work becomes brittle over time and can leak at elbows and tees. As a rule if I do a renovation, I recommend changing the pipe work to below the floor, or just inside the roof space. That way you have the comfort of being able to connect onto new pipe work, if the older pipe work needs replacing in the future without having to renovate again.

If you have any renovations please call or email. Meeting your plumbing needs.
