Plumbing Maintenance

I was investigating a leak coming through a light fitting in the kitchen. In the bathroom above was the bath. The connection to the bath was hard fixed, with a built in tiled surround. The cheapest option to access this was by cutting a hole in the wall lining, in the adjacent wardrobe and installing an access panel when finished.

To my surprise I found that the trap had been sealed around the back nut with silicone sealant. This is not a normal process and I hope it was done more to secure the back nut from coming loose, rather than fixing a leak. As you can see from the picture the area was totally dry. Further investigation revealed that the connection past the U bend was loose, I was fortunately able to tighten the join through a different light fitting.

A lot of jobs in plumbing mean working in tight confined spaces and the need to work in a methodical manner to achieve the best outcome. Any queries give me a call. Meeting your plumbing needs.
