Water filters do not soften the water, however, this cabinet softener does.

Water is taken from the supply and fed through the controller into the resin tank and back through to the house supply. By adding rock salt to the cabinet as is required, the brine solution is added to the water through the controller head, this in turn softens the water. The controller is fully automated and gives the system a back wash and rinse every 7 days, to keep the resin tank clean.
